Questions students ask

Do I need to sign up?
Nope. Spark is opt-in and there's nothing to install — just log in with your UCInetID at spark.uci.edu or click the "UCI Spark" link in Canvas. Your first sparks are waiting.
Is it free?
Yes — Spark is free for all UCI students and is available as of the 2025/26 academic year.
What data does Spark use about me?
Spark uses your Canvas activity and institutional data (like enrollment and program info), stored securely behind UCInetID login, to recommend resources and show your course analytics. You can read exactly how on the Data Policies page.
How often does it update?
Every week. Your dashboard refreshes with up to four new tailored sparks, and your course analytics update as the term goes on — so it's always worth another look.

Press the "Help" button in the bottom-left of Spark any time, or email spark-support@uci.edu and the team will get back to you.
